Incorrect mother & I cannot get a response from the profile manager.

I am the profile manager of John Elphick ( Elphick-344.) He is the son of Richard Elphicke ( Elphicke-9 ) & Elizabeth Pecknam. & not Elizabeth Willard ( Willard-2488 ) All the Willard siblings were born in Chiddingly Sussex & the Pecknam siblings were born in Ticehurst, Sussex. I need to show the correct mother on his profile. How do I go about changing things without permission being given by the profile manager?

Since the profile manager appears to be active, go to the "Unresponsive Profile Manager" form and be sure you have taken each step there. If you have, then fill out the form and submit it. It will take a week or two but when the process is completed you should b able to make the change. One other thing you can do is post what you want to change on the profile of the present mother and post a source for the change. You can also post that on the son's profile.

These are all open profiles, so I believe the Unresponsive Profile Manager process would only be needed if a Last Name at Birth needs to be changed. I don't believe that's the case here, but perhaps Brian can clarify.
Thanks Matthew

John's last name at birth will remain Elphicke/Elphick as it will only be his mother's name that changes.

Appreciate the replies as I have been trying to contact the profile manager to discuss this for a while now.
Since Elizabeth Willard was a different person, you could just disconnect as spouse and edit current last name etc. (keeping her as Elizabeth Willard), and creating a new profile for Elizabeth Pecknam.

You've done the right thing by first reaching out to the profile manager if there are questions or issues on the facts. Having said that, these are all open profiles from centuries ago, so if you've already waited a reasonable amount of time, you can make any edits you see fit that are supported by sources. I'd also suggest explaining in Research Notes on all affected profiles.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I will wait until next week as the profile manager just MIGHT read the above?? & contact me.

I choose this reply as the best although Virginia's helped in a different way, but I will be happy to avoid filling in forms if I can.
Matthew and Brian are correct in that the profiles are open and you can change anything except the LNAB. It was early and I was on my first cup of tea! I would still post what you want to change on the profile with a source that you intend to post verifying the change. That may get the attention of the PM and open up a conversation. If not, then make the change and add a ==Research Note== explaining why the change was made.
Thanks Virginia. The plot thickens. I now have lots of info which helps a lot.

G to G is such a help when one has the occasional hiccup.
And make sure research notes include wikitree ID of the mother you are removing and reason. Without wikitree IDs included, it can make it more difficult to find them. Sometimes it is hard finding the relationships in changes log.
