BRICK WALL: With my paternal great-grandparents

Question

I have full information on my paternal grandparents. I know that my grandmother is from the south. They always called my grandfather "Jolly Joe". I cannot find ANY information on my great-grandparents. I have searched Kentucky, the Carolinas and Maryland/DC. I have tried so many variations to their names. I have searched for concrete marital records. I have tried through my grandma's siblings, I am just coming up empty.  If you check my tree (its' public) you can get the information on Eunice Mae Allen and if you want to fiddle and respond? ANYTHING would be helpful.

Looking at the family of his grandparents, Henry & Martha Allen, throughout the census records, he is the son of one of their children, possibly a daughter. From the 1900 census, Fanny Reid Allen was 5 so she would have been about 17 when Jolly was born (1912). Martha S Reid was 1 in 1900 so she would have been 13 when Jolly was born, not likely but not impossible.
