Orphaned profile I had hoped to research but has no useful information. What to do with the profile now?

This is an orphaned profile I took over but it does not have any connections or useful information and cannot be connected as is.

Should I "reassign" it to a real person (different DOB, place of birth) or should it be deleted?

Hi Christine. Thank you for trying with this profile.

Profiles or WikiTree IDs should not be reassigned or recycled. See

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Recycling_WikiTree_IDs

Further, this is not one of the very rare cases where a profile might be deleted. See

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Deletion_FAQ

I'm afraid the only solution I see is to leave it as is, and orphan it again. Maybe at some future time someone will discover information which can be applied to it.

Maybe merging it into a more defined Morand would be the way to go then?

A while ago, I adopted a few such profiles because they had the same last name and they were from the same area as my in-laws. I had hoped to find the connection and improve the profiles. Recently, I found the connection for a few of them. The others I am holding on to until I can improve them.

Please do not re-assign the number. If you do not want to deal with it, you can remove yourself as profile manager. We are not able to delete profiles and it is strongly recommended that we do not "recycle" profiles. Good luck.

Came across the following that may be possible clues. Nothing else found and unknown if this is person.

Claude Morand born 1515 France. Married Marie Anne Guittar Lagrandeur

Google search shows 2 snippets from Ancestry though I can't access it. Might be helpful or not.

Marie Anne Guittar Le Grandeur Bachet Morant Morand (born 1518). Facsimile of the Tombstone (Headstone) Location: Saint Pauls United Church of Christ

I had found this reference to Marie Morand's parents as well but can find no solid sources to link her to anyone.

Thank you,

Christine

Thank you all for the advice. I will try to link this profile, as is, as the father of [[Morand-36|Marie Morand]]. There really is no other way to connect this profile to the tree and there is no improving it as is.

This is a GEDcom import of a person with no first name, a DOB of 1515 with no day or month, no connection to parents, spouses, siblings or children and no sources at any time in it's existence. It would be useful to have guidelines to help deal with these types of unconnected profiles that can never be figured out.

Edit: [[Morand-36|Marie Morand]] is project protected. Perhaps someone from the Projet France can help link this profile to her.
