I am accidentally creating duplicates

I don't think it's me!  I seem to create duplicates all the time.  For example, this morning I created:

Parry Clete Skinner

Born 16 Oct 1791 in Pomfret, Windsor, Vermont, United Statesmap

No list to check even came up so I continued on to create.  Then when I went to search for his father, I found the duplicate.

Perry Clete Skinner

Born 16 Oct 1791 in Pomfret, VTmap

Seems  like they are similar enough that a duplicate would have been suggested.

Is there an issue with the comparisons or am I doing something wrong.  I hate to create these duplicates.

Are you searching for the name first before starting to create the profile? Sometimes this helps.

Use the search page under the Find drop down menu to search for anyone with that name.

I sometimes search by just surname first, then sort the results alphabetically. But nothing is perfect for preventing duplicates--I'm sure everyone has inadvertently created them.
Yes I try to and I check the list the (usually) appears as well as I can. Thanks.

I also seem to be creating duplicates more often now. Not use why. I think the reason it is not offered as a suggestion, is related to the time of creation of the first entry. ie last hour?

I am now refreshing a profile while editing it to make sure that I have not already entered individual. With the refresh I can see the siblings listed. So I don't create a duplicate. I hope this makes sense.

Parry and Perry probably aren't set as variants of the same name.

Peary would also fall into a possible alternate spelling.
Could it be VT instead of Vermont that’s the problem? I’ve always wondered about that.
Locations are not used at all when checking for duplicates.
Great, thank you!
