WT Sourcer [1] not working on Safari

I haven’t been able to get it to work for at least a few days on my iPad with Ancestry records. It is not recognizing sources nor is it extracting the information when I select “Build Narrative with Citation”. Anyone else having this problem?

Edit: It seems I am only having a problem with Canadian census records.

Hi Liza,

Do you have the latest version of Sourcer on your iPad? I did have a fix in version 1.6.3 for some Canada census records. The latest version on iPad is 1.6.5.

I will try that
Rob, I have checked the app version and appears to be the latest one, I have updated my iPad, checked the settings turning Sourcerer off then back on, then restarted my iPad. I just don’t know what is going on.

It still works fine for church records but does not recognize census data (1861, 1871, 1881, etc) nor will it recognize the death record. I’m so confused.
Do you have an example record I could try?

Also, how does it fail? Does the popup menu say that it doesn't recognize the page?

This is the profile I was working on: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sauve-825

For example, if I go to this record: https://www.ancestry.ca/imageviewer/collections/1570/images/4391570_00146?pId=797660189, Celeste is selected so I hit [1] and it comes up not recognizing that it is a census record. I select census then it will provide an inline source as shown on the profile but the auto generated biography just says “Celeste was in a record”.

I really hope the problem is not my iPad.

I looked at that profile. All the Ancestry census links I tried allowed me to use Sourcer on them.

For example, does this page allow you to create a citation?

https://www.ancestry.ca/discoveryui-content/view/797660189:1570

This one workd for me in Safari on Mac (I don't have an iPad). It gives a citation like this:

In the 1861 census Celest (age 34) was the married head of household in East Hawkesbury, Prescott, Canada West.<ref>

'''1861 Census''':

"1861 Census of Canada"<br/>

Library and Archives Canada; Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; Census Returns For 1861; Roll: C-1068; Page number: 35<br/>

{{Ancestry Sharing|3447535|7b22746f6b656e223a22487867327079652b4a635341626f41384a674672302b32414141486e34515176737a44787a7961664666593d222c22746f6b656e5f76657273696f6e223a225632227d}} - {{Ancestry Record|1570|797660189}} (accessed 3 May 2023)<br/>

Celest Cadeux (34), married head of household in East Hawkesbury, Prescott, Canada West. Born in Lower Canada.

</ref>

Ok, something really weird is going on here. I can use your link fine and everything works. That is the exact same record that is linked to Celeste in my tree on Ancestry yet when I click on the record attached to my tree it looks different and Sourcer won’t work properly. It’s only when the record is attached to a person that it’s not working. Weird! I wonder if it’s an Ancestry thing then. Sorry to bother you.
