Hi Mimi,
I feel your pain! While trying to connect my wife to both her grandfathers, she was "locked out". These grandfathers were long since dead, and no reason for the profiles to be locked, Two of her well meaning cousins had locked the profiles without realizing they are not the only descendants of these men, and not understanding that other family members might want to connect!
In our case the cousins sort of became in-active and forgot they had locked the profiles.
So, the profile members could just be your cousins who didn't realize the consequences of their actions. The concept that WikiTree is a member tree, not a personal tree, is hard for some to grasp.
Remember that when you create a profile, you are the profile manager, but all of us can edit and improve the profile. We signed an honor code to improve the quality, not destroy the information recorded. Some profile managers feel when that happens they have lost control, but they really haven't.
I hope you get this resolved easily. Then next step is to get WikiTree staff involved to unlock the profile. That is a process that could take some time. Its a long winded explanation. Only try this as a last resort, and we will be happy to walk you through that process if your first efforts fail.
