I have many Draper burials in Lincoln, Nebraska. My immediate family were once living in Stella and Dawson, Nebraska. In fact, my Draper family founded Dawson, Nebraska! It is still legally called Noraville and if you bought property there, Noraville will appear on the title! Lanora was the wife of William Fountain Draper who he named the town after,
The name changed to Dawson because William Draper did not have a post office in the town. Joshua Dawson was the postmaster of the Dawson Mills Post Office, located outside of the city limits. When the post office was moved into Noraville, Joshua Dawson convinced the U.S. Postmaster to keep the post office name as "Dawson Mills". The U.S. Post Master disagreed and dropped the name "Mills off the title but allowed the Post office to be called "the Dawson Post Office" Thus William Draper lost the name of his town. A huge fight erupted between the Draper families and Noraville residents which appeared in the newspapers of the day. It is one of the most bizarre stories of Nebraskan small towns that historians still talk about today!
That being said: WELCOME!!!!
