How do I upload my entire DNA to WikiTree?

I have had my entire DNA sequence and I would like to upload it to WikiTree in hopes of finding who my WV grandfather on my father's side was. It should then be easy to locate similar DNA.  My surname is Baughman but my Y-DNA matches no branch of the Baughman family.  BTW my father is unquestionably my father; it's his father who is a mystery.

We don't upload DNA data to WikiTree. Members looking for family are encouraged to upload their test data to websites that accept uploads and provide facilities for comparisons (such as Gedmatch, FTDNA, and MyHeritage). Your profile shows that you tested at FTDNA, but you possibly could find additional matches by uploading data to Gedmatch and MyHeritage.

The Adoption Angels Project has some excellent advice for people in your situation. In particular, see their page on Searching For Unknown Parents.

Hello James,

Upload your Y-DNA to mitoYDNA.org and then add your mitoYDNA ID to WikiTree.  Then you can view and compare your Y-DNA via WikiTree. See Compare two or more Y haplotypes in WikiTree via mitoYDNA

Step by step instructions are at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Instructions_to_Upload_Family_Tree_DNA_Y-DNA_Test_Information_to_mitoYDNA.org

mitoYDNA accepts all 838 of your Y-STRs see https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1544196/did-you-know-you-can-now-compare-big-y-700-tests-via-wikitree

Use your “terminal haplogroup” and then you are automatically linked to WikiTree member Rob Spencer’s Y SNP Tree Explorer https://indo-european.eu/miscellanea/topic/rob-spencers-tracking-back-snp-tracker-snp-tree-explorer-etc/ which uses FTDNA’s Y-DNA Haplotree.

GEDmatch.com (which is for autosomal DNA and X chromosome uploads) encourages you to add your mitoYDNA ID there so others can easily access your Y-DNA. See https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1397577/did-you-know-gedmatch-now-integrates-with-mitoydna-org?show=1397577#q1397577

I assume the bottom line is trying to find out who your grand father was. In looking at your profile, it seems to me that if you are looking for one of your grandfathers, Autosomal DNA (AuDNA) would be the way to go. You don't have an AuDNA test listed in Wikitree. While it's not guaranteed, I would think you should be able to find some first or second cousins this way through GEDmatch or perhaps even on Wikitree. As was stated earlier, all you do on Wikitree is add the details of the test (the fact of), and not the raw data from the test itself. Happy Hunting!

I'll second that. My niece and nephew (half-brother's children) didn't know their grandfather's name either, we did Y DNA and narrowed down the surname but it wasn't until we added autosomal DNA and uploaded to the My Heritage website that we were able to zero in on the grandfather.

Add autosomal DNA to your tests and upload to each of the available databases and you'll have the best luck. My suggestion is to do the AncestryDNA at Ancestry.com, then transfer your results to FTDNA to get in that database. Also upload to GedMatch, My Heritage, and any others that interest you like mitoYDNA.

The suggestion of seeking out assistance from the Search Angels is also HIGHLY recommended! Those people are fantastic.
