enhanced editor [closed]

Question

I was working on this profile and half of it turned gray. Don't know how. I tried to fix it but I couldn't figure out how to do it. Any ideas?

Hi Melanie. It indeed could be the enhanced editor. If you don't like it, you can turn it off again with the button

 TURN OFF ENHANCED EDITOR 

below the big edit box.

But are you using any browser extensions? If so, things may be more complicated.

Tried that several times and it's still gray. My extensions never bothered it before.

Can you let us know what extensions you are using? They may turn out to be relevant.

Melanie, I think you may want to go to the settings and switch off the enhanced editor there.

I'm using Wikibee and it never messed with anything. I think it only happens when there are inline source citations and regular source citations on the page.  I'll have to be a little more aware of when it's happening.Not sure just turning them off will do anything but I'll try.

Is this still a problem with William Comstock's profile?  I don't see anything wrong with it.  If most of the editor turns grey, it usually means that you have a problem with ref tags (you haven't closed one), but I don't see that on William's profile.

I think it was a ref tag. Someone fixed his profile so now it looks like it is supposed to. She fixed the ref tags. I'm having trouble figuring them out. Thanks for all of your help.

They go like this: 

<ref>Citation goes here</ref>

If you're going to use the same citation twice, add a name to it the first time:

<ref name="birth">Citation goes here</ref>

Then when you use it the second time, do this:

<ref name="birth" />  (That's all.)

It's often those slashes that trip people up.
