Hi Wikitreers

We are researching his children and need a children's list

The children some born in Vermont have well sourced birth records; however the children born in New York and apparently a son Levi Ritter Dodge (1815 - 1889) born abt. 1815 Vermont (note: interesting as family in 1810 census is in New York) needs birth sourcing; extra TLC.

The daughters Lucy (Dodge) Hennigan (abt. 1809 - 1862) and Jerusha (Dodge) Ellison (1817 - 1887) are my main interest as their children first cousins apparently married and in particular U.S. Civil War Veteran David Hennagen (abt. 1838 - 1889 of the 106th New York Company F.

Need collaboration in Major Thomas genealogy and finding more sources of the children born in New York.

Thank you

In Genealogical and Family History of Northern New York, William Richard Cutter lists the couple as having the following children with the following birthdates:

Thomas, September 24, 1800

Wallis, August 30, 1802

Nancy, March 20, 1804

Luther, October 1, 1806

Eliza, July 23, 1808

Hannah, June 6, 1810

SIbel. July 11, 1812

Levi R. and Lephia, April 2, 1815 (twins)

Clarissa, August 2, 1817

Angeline, March 29, 1821

William R. Cutter, Genealogical and Family History of Northern New York (New York: Lewis Historical Publishing Company; 1910), vol. 3, p. 1172. https://www.google.com/books/edition/Genealogical_and_Family_History_of_North/Ye4pAQAAMAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Thomas+Dodge+1773+1840+ritter&pg=PA1172&printsec=frontcover

While those types of books are always a little suspect, at least it gives a list.

It also says that the family removed from Andover, Vermont, where Levi was born, to Massena in 1817, which would make the last two children on the list the ones born in New York.

It's not a perfect, but FindaGrave has a listing for Angeline.

The Iowa, U.S., Cemetery Records database at ancestry.com has the following:

Angeline Joy, b. March 29, 1821, and d. August 10, 1910, in Cass County, Iowa, age 89, wife of A. Joy.

Oh so maybe as familysearch has Jerusha Dodge and Lucy Dodge as the children of Major Thomas Dodge might be inaccurate needs a good source even a good obit would be good to confirm interesting you found two I didn’t see ! Thank you

Edit: typos fixed
Today I found the proper place for the two stray children. Both belonged to Shubal Dodge (Dodge-1393) thanks to help from Norman Dodge and wife Eileen. Both Lucy and Jerusha are now with proper family   Greg
