Hello Wikitree,

This is a veteran of the glorious 106th New York Regt. Company E. He has some info regarding his genealogy on his FindAGrave memorial which does mention him being a Doctor. There is no gravestone photo. We need collaboration in adding some good sources by researching and getting this veteran connected.

We have almost completely added all the veterans of Company E to the free space page!

Thank you

What title should he have Dr. or Pvt?
Andrew, I'd put Pvt (or private) in the sticker and Dr for his prefix.

Nice work on Company E. I am about through with Company C, 10th NC Artillery.
Just updated I’ll do more on his updates soon. That Co. C 10th NC Artillery sounds very interesting I’m curious if they ever were on the same field as the 106th? Same battles

Is there a link to the page?
I have a brick wall Rockwood-659 from New York. Do you think they could be from the same family?

Very possible given the location and LNAB but would need heavy research to find any connection smiley

He's hard to find, but here is a link to a death notice in the Journal of the American Medical Association (p. 446):

P.S.  This link to The Left-Armed Corps has some letters that he wrote about his military service:

Thank you this is very helpful! It appears he had the disability of a “loss of arm” an amputee? I’ll be updating as I get time. A very interesting vet not too many were doctors!

Shows he did pass away in his hometown of Bombay, Franklin County, New York which is what FindAGrave has also. A great source!

This confirms he attended  the University of Vermont in Burlington 1871. Amazing achievement overcoming his disability for this era! Wow
Updated his profile with his obit it does confirm loss of arm place of death and occupation and him being twice married his sons also serving in the U.S. Civil War. It doesn’t mention which arm was lost?

It appears many knew Dr. Rockwood in that area in that time.

Added some more sources such as census reports and marriage sources
One added tid bit. His middle initial is “S” I’m thinking it’s for his mothers maiden name as “Sheldon” but don’t have a good source to show this is the case yet
