Hill, there are privacy levels that you can select for each profile you manage.  There are several options available, from displaying all information, some types of information, or limited to the name and decade of birth and death.

To set the privacy level, click the Privacy tab near the top of the profile and you will see all the levels and the definitions of what they will display.  You can make your selection there and be sure to click a big SAVE button when you make any changes.

Welcome to WikiTree.

Hi Hill,

You can go to the "Privacy" tab of Grace's profile and select a different privacy level if you want to limit the information other people can see.

For profiles with a public biography you can also hide text in the biography as shown here:

<!-- This text is hidden    -->

This is useful when you have information that you want future editors to have access to but do not want people who are not WikiTree members to see.

For example I use it to hide the survivor section of an obituary that I have added.

For your mom you will want to change the privacy as suggested by others.  You can still use the hidden text codes if you select a privacy with a public biography.  After changing privacy click the Profile (public view) button to see how the page appears to others.

Darryl, I often use that comment tag at the end of a profile to hide source citations for family members of the person that I happened to find while researching to write the person's biography.  I like to put them on the profile page for temporary storage so that they will be available when I'm ready to add more family members.

The problem with using a comment tag is that the text is still on the page, but only hidden from display.  If you click View Source in a browser, the comment tags and their content will show, so the comment tag does not really keep it private.
