This young lad of the U.S. civil war appears on the NPS however he isn’t listed on the New York DMNA yet appears on the Roster. It appears he was absent at enlistment August 18, 1862 at Ogdensburgh, New York.

Any collaboration is appreciated.

His rank was changed from musician to Private so I assume he served in the war

Thank you

Here's a report of his death with the family stating that he served as a bodyguard to President Lincoln:

Wow very impressive for this 17yr old musician of the 106th who apparently transferred into Swains U.S. Cavalry or the 11th N.Y. Cavalry. He definitely aspired. Always am intrigued at these civil war vets stories they never cease to amaze!

Thank you a great source!
