Edward Barnard (1780-1845) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

Hannah (Hunt) Barnard (1794-1882) | WikiTree FREE Family Tree

This couple has been a bit of a brick wall for me for a while. FamilySearch claims he's the son of John Bernard and Abigail Catlin, but the evidence seems kinda iffy to me...

FamilySearch also claims she's the daughter of a John Tipton Hunt, who does make sense location-wise, but I'm having trouble proving definitely they're related.

Jefferson and Westchester are a long way off from each other, possible, but would think buried as Barnard.  There's a Hannah Hunt that died in Cortlandt, Westchester County, NY that matches to death in 1862 not 1882 per Probate Records.  I can't help but wonder if the FindAGrave is off on date for the Hannah Hunt memorial since there is no photo to verify it (wouldn't be the first time). No mention of name Barnard in those records, they mention a sister Charlotte Sutton, nephew Ellis Travis, others.

Hannah's in many trees with no sources.  Some list Josiah vs. John as father.  Doesn't look like same person you're seeking.  That will in probate on Ancestry if you can view here  might at least help you rule out.

The Edward Barnard born in Deerfield, MA in 1788 seems to be attached to the same census records and FindAGrave listing.  Father Ebenezer Barnard and Mother Abigail Caitlin (in Massachusetts Town & Vital Records).

Are you sure he was born in Vermont?

I unfortunately don't have an Ancestry account, so I can't view that.

No, I can't honestly say I'm sure he was born in Vermont as it was someone else who managed that profile and claimed Vermont.

Thanks for trying to help :)!

Edited to add that I just marked the unsourced father "john Bernard" currently attached to his profile "uncertain"
If you want to see that just message me I can download and send it to you. There is also a record for an Edward Barnard under NY, U.S., War of 1812 Payroll Abstracts for NYS Militia - it came up with the others on Ancestry but you might find that on Family Search if you haven't already.  Says "Jefferson Co." so I suspect it was paid to him.

I checked the NYS death index for 1882 for Hunt and Barnard, no Hunt matching that date, there are 2 without first names or exact year (in range but not necessarily 1882) and they are in Albany county not Westchester.  2 Barnards come up for 1882 - 1 unspecified in date range in Albany County and one in Eddyville which is in Ulster County. Try looking into the Edward born in Massachusetts instead of Vermont just in case.  I hope you can break your brick wall with them.
It looks unfortunately unlikely that the Edward Barnard born in Deerfield, MA is the right one as he married a Caroline M. Fanning, complete with marriage record.
At least you can rule it out. I see the note about his burial with no stone, did you check with the cemetery for any record of Hannah there too? Or with the Jefferson County Historical Society? they might have info to go on.

Try contacting the Genealogy Room, Flower Memorial Library, Washington Street, Watertown, New York, 13601.
Good suggestion!

Kae-Leah I'll keep looking, it's a tough one just seeing the same copied trees no other sources. I'm connected through Mary Ann Barnard Bray's husband Francis Andrew Bray (Quebecois) to both sides of his Lalonde/Brunet line (possibly more haven't checked his other lines).
