01 Jul 2022 marks the 80th anniversary of the sinking of the "Montevideo Maru" in WW2. She was one of the Japanese "hell ships" and was transporting over 1050 mostly Allied (and mostly Australian) POWs and civilian internees, all of whom died.

It is considered Australia's greatest maritime disaster.

All Allied POWs and Civilian Internees have profiles on Wikitree (although many are unconnected to the World tree).
