George Soutar who went down in the Montevideo Maru - finding his family

Is anyone able to take a look at this profile of George Soutar, one of the men who went down when the 'Montevideo Maru' was torpedoed during World War 2? We are trying to connect him to the global tree.

When he enlisted he gave his date of birth in Glasgow, and the name of his father as his next of kin. I haven't been able to locate his birth, and therefore can't find anything else out about his parents.

I've added some research notes. Another set of eyes might help to sort out this mystery, or at least confirm that there is nothing else we can do at the moment to connect him to the tree.

Thanks in advance!

I can rule out a few more of the individuals you included in the research notes.

  • George Ogilvie Soutar, mother McLauchlan, died in 1995 at Cambuslang, age 83.
  • George Matthew Soutar, mother McFarlane, died in 1986 at Glasgow Martha St, age 75.
  • George Small Soutar, mother Hamilton, died in 1977 at Morningside, age 69.

These are all from the death registrations in ScotlandsPeople.
