What is in brackets after "pauper" 1871 census

John Johnson in schedule 65 of this census page:

1871, Belton, Lincolnshire

He's listed as pauper but there's another word in brackets that I can't make out. Anyone know what it says?
In 1851 he is "pauper (crippled)". Sad family, his wife was blind!

It looks like 'Decrepid', which was, apparently, an alternative spelling of 'decrepit'.
