Hi Wikitree family, I would like collaboration if anyone is interested in Capt. Caleb Hill who per his bio on his FindAGrave memorial was “Killed at the Tavern” in 1814. What was the circumstances surrounding his death anything listed in the newspapers of this era? A very interesting “Hill” and “Strong” genealogy also their son Calvin Hill (1795 - 1831) married a Mercy (Pike) Hill (1799 - 1892) and he also died young in his 30’s leaving his widow with many children. What was his cause of death? I’d like to add the entire family group and eventually tie in Capt. Caleb Hill to the main tree! Thank you Note: anything further on his service in the War of 1812.

Take a look at this paper:

It describes the death and provides sources.

Wow this is an interesting story of this era and considering current events seems nothing new under the sun. He was a federalist a legislator and a judge? An important figure in his community! The clips really help in the research
