The U.S. Civil War pension file for Melville Beers Rowley also includes two other (apparently unrelated) marriage certificates: John H. Weeks & Mary Ann Griffith, 12 Nov 1864; and John R. Rowley and Mary Ann Weeks, 8 Nov 1866. They were marked with the file number of Amanda E. Rowley, the widow of Melville Beers Rowley, but their significance is unknown. The certificates were submitted 11 March 1927. Investigation shows those marriage certificates clearly related to the pension file of John R. Rowley, widow's application 1138,524, certificate 876,004. In other words, they were misfiled.
