Want to create attractive, interesting, and accurate profiles? Love to help track down those mysterious unknowns? Then you need to join the Profile Improvement Project (PIP)!

PIP is dedicated to helping you make YOUR managed profiles some of the best on WikiTree. As you embark on our Voyage, you will be assisted by one of our friendly and knowledgeable Guides. You will learn how to create fun, interesting, informative, well-sourced profiles that adhere to WikiTree standards, styles, and guidelines.

Read the Project Page and follow the steps in the "How to Join" section. Add an answer below to get started on the Voyage.

Once you've completed the Voyage, the Unknowns Team would love your help solving mysteries like who was Lydia (Unknown) Jones. You can read more about what they do on the Unknowns Team page.

Thank you.

This is one of the best projects that you can be apart of here on WikiTree. You learn so much while having fun creating Profiles to be proud of.  You  Learn new skills, and will be prepared when faced with a more difficult meticulous project that requires that every detail is spot on. Enjoy yourself, and have fun.

I'd love to join. Could you please let me know when you start accepting voyagers again?

Thanks!
Hello Marcia,

Thanks for your interest in the Project. We will post a new announcement here on g2g as soon as we are ready to accept new Voyagers. We hope to see you then!

Hi Steff, please look for a PM from me. Thanks.
I'm hoping this project reopens soon and I can sign up as a voyager. The sourcer browser extension is a huge blessing but has limitations. I've a year experience on Wikitree and have hit a wall in my growth here. I need mentoring to learn how to use inline citations, and format the diverse undigitized sources  I've gleaned from historical societies and other repositories scattered about New England. My activity hasn't generated too many suggestions, but I would like to learn how to deal with them effectively.
I want to become a solid citizen here on Wikitree. I haven't had the opportunity to have as much formal education as I would like so I lack experience with the technical bits of scholarly writing.
You sound like a perfect candidate! While you wait, here's a great guide you can bookmark to refer to when you need to compose a citation:  https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html

Basically, whenever you state a fact in a biography, add an open ref tag at the end of the fact (including punctuation, if any).<ref> Who, ''what,'' (where: publisher, when) page.</ref> Then fill in the citation with author, title, publication info, and page, close the ref tag, and keep going. Hope this helps!

Hi,

I would love to join PIP... I have a few that really shouldn't be in the shape they're in (specially my parents and grandparents). I'm one to get going on research, move along and (very sadly) forget to build on biographies.

Improving my managed profiles is one of my New Year's resolutions!

Thanks so much,

Carol

Good evening,

I have made a start on one of my great uncles biography [[Leney-98|William Leney (abt.1827-abt.1888)]] could somebody please take a look and advise what improvements I can make on it?

Thank you in advance.
by Nicci Hartland G2G6 Mach 1 (17.7k points)
If you know where he is buried, you can add that and the cemetery category.
Hi Nicci, I've sent you a message...and Tommy is right, having categories is lovely
I have just updated this and working on several others.

Thank you.

That's great Nicci laugh. Practice makes perfect

My impossible objective is to build full, interesting and accurate profiles on WikiTree for all related to me by DNA and their spouses. In this way, I aim to honour the lives of those people by preserving as full as possible a story of their lives for the benefit of their descendants long into the future.
I am finding the hardest part is to develop profiles that are substantially more than a list of sourced facts that my relatives and others would find interesting to read. Any help I can get to develop my skills in that direction would be appreciated.
