Want to create attractive, interesting, and accurate profiles? Love to help track down those mysterious unknowns? Then you need to join the Profile Improvement Project (PIP)!

PIP is dedicated to helping you make YOUR managed profiles some of the best on WikiTree. As you embark on our Voyage, you will be assisted by one of our friendly and knowledgeable Guides. You will learn how to create fun, interesting, informative, well-sourced profiles that adhere to WikiTree standards, styles, and guidelines.

Read the Project Page and follow the steps in the "How to Join" section. Add an answer below to get started on the Voyage.

Once you've completed the Voyage, the Unknowns Team would love your help solving mysteries like who was Lydia (Unknown) Jones. You can read more about what they do on the Unknowns Team page.

Thank you.

This is one of the best projects that you can be apart of here on WikiTree. You learn so much while having fun creating Profiles to be proud of.  You  Learn new skills, and will be prepared when faced with a more difficult meticulous project that requires that every detail is spot on. Enjoy yourself, and have fun.

I'd love to join. Could you please let me know when you start accepting voyagers again?

Thanks!
Hello Marcia,

Thanks for your interest in the Project. We will post a new announcement here on g2g as soon as we are ready to accept new Voyagers. We hope to see you then!

Hi Steff, please look for a PM from me. Thanks.
I'm hoping this project reopens soon and I can sign up as a voyager. The sourcer browser extension is a huge blessing but has limitations. I've a year experience on Wikitree and have hit a wall in my growth here. I need mentoring to learn how to use inline citations, and format the diverse undigitized sources  I've gleaned from historical societies and other repositories scattered about New England. My activity hasn't generated too many suggestions, but I would like to learn how to deal with them effectively.
I want to become a solid citizen here on Wikitree. I haven't had the opportunity to have as much formal education as I would like so I lack experience with the technical bits of scholarly writing.
You sound like a perfect candidate! While you wait, here's a great guide you can bookmark to refer to when you need to compose a citation:  https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html

Basically, whenever you state a fact in a biography, add an open ref tag at the end of the fact (including punctuation, if any). Then fill in the citation with author, title, publication info, and page, close the ref tag, and keep going. Hope this helps!

Hello, I would love to join the Profile Improvement Project to both learn more about creating great profiles and to assist with researching Unknowns.

Yes please, I would like to join the PIP voyager program. I've been trying to make great profiles for my ancestors and just doing bits and bobs from bits of information I have found in different places. But this looks like a much better way to learn to do it properly. Thank you!

I need to be part of this. I joined WT a year ago not knowing anything about genealogy, and I still feel like I'm flying by the seat of my pants.

Looking to Join the Profile Improvement Project. In my time here on Wikitree so far, I've run across quite a few profiles that are in desperate need of some TLC. I've already improved the quality of hundreds of profiles here already, and I'm looking to improve any more I run across.

Hi I think I would benefit greatly from this project. I'm part of the Australia - Born in the Colony project but have very little experience with fleshing out profiles..

Thanks

I would like to help improve profiles that are created using only sources.  I dislike having to open every source to review the person's life.  I think we honor the person with a readable biography.

Hi, I'd like to join the project, since I'm already doing such work both as a member of Project England as well was with the profiles of my own ancestors. Some recent ones I've done include John Huntamer, Brooke Forester, Richard Onslow, Izaac Walton and I am currently neck-deep in Thomas Thirlby as part of England Project's Orphan Trail-2. I have many more profiles in my own line to improve, and I figured adding the skills from the Voyage couldn't hurt!
