It’s been a great year for the Profile Improvement Project. Two subprojects were added, Unknowns and Collaborative Profile Project.

The Collaborative Profile of the Week  has created 56 great profiles of persons, famous and not famous, 380-2000’s, and from all over the world and two space pages.. Interested? See this weeks profile Queen Adelaide. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project.

The Unknowns Project  is led by Shirley Dalton  with her assistant Kelly Bartlett. They’ve been dealing with the multitudes of Unknown profiles, and the alias names such as, Unk, XXX, ??, not sure. Their goals: 1) Identify all profiles without valid names according to the naming standards at Name Fields. 2) Remove or Reuse profiles with aliases such as Unknown, Unk, etc., which have no data, are orphaned and have no connections with any other profile.  Shirley has lots of help.  In addition to Kelly (Bartlett) Metzler, there are Esmé (Pieterse) van der Westhuizen, Robert Espie, Ros Haywood, Gerrie (Schneider) Bartholomew, Dawn Ellis, Jeffry Ricker, Star Kline, Astrid Schellenberger, Gaile (Gordon) Connolly, Maggie N,  and Nan Lambert. There are perhaps others helping with the Project, who already had the PIP Badge. Thank you all.

The Profile Improvement Project also added the following 21 people this year:  Dorothy Barry,  Greg Hays, Colleen Morrison,  Joanne (C) Coombs, Sarah (Callis) Rojas, Pat (Fuller) Credit,  James Hail, Ashley Lloyd, Hope Tillman, Merri (Bulgier) Bright, Maryann (Thompson) Hurt, Melissa (Dowden) Dyniec, Anders Kaas Petersen, Laurie Cruthers P, Jenna (Knowles) Parker, Patricia Roche, Chryse Whitis, Bea (Timmerman) Wijma, Nan Lambert, John Floyd, J. (Pearson) Salsbery. What wonderful people we have working to make Wikitree a fabulous site. Thank you.

Abby Glann has been doing a great job running the Sourcerer’s Challenge, that while not stricktly speaking part of the PIP, is certainly an important part of improving Wikitree’s profiles. It gives us a very positive method of seeing the progress in getting sources onto profiles. Thank you, Abby, and all the members, who have contributed to the challenge, and also to the Sourcerers who haven’t added their names to the Challenge.

Thank you one and all. Anne B & Sally Stovall

Anne B is #1!  Thanks for all your hard work.  Happy New Year!
Hmmm .... What I have Done:

I've mostly pestered Anne for reviews of about 400 profiles that I've researched and written for the vast gedcom I adopted and lately I've been pestering her for help researching a piece of my own family.  The word "no" and phrase "I can't" don't seem to be in Anne's repertoire - she is always willing to help and  - amazing to me - always comes up with the answers.

I want to take this opportunity to thank Anne for all she does here.
Great idea and update, Anne. Thanks for posting this. Sounds like a wonderful year for the PIP. Here's to another! And, thank you PIP for all you do to improve our genea-web home :-)
Thank you, there's another variety of Unknowns for you to look at, people named Ancetre.  Means ancestor in French, and I've adopted a few that were in my lineage, although they are ridiculous as such.  No data at all, no source etc.  The 'first name' entered is usually the actual last name of the family.  Most of them are GEDCOM uploads from what I can make out.

Not entirely sure what the PIP entails, but I've been adding bios as much as possible to the Filles à Marier, Filles du roi and Carignan-Salières regimental soldiers.  And work on sourcerers side also.  Filling in blanks for dates and places, and so on.  Mostly the New-France and descendants profiles.
Danielle, thank you. Anything that improves a profile, from typos to whole bios falls under Profile Improvement Project.
