James is my brick wall, and I would love to know Rebeckah's maiden name as well as any hints on his ancestry.  Given names Nelson and Gilbert appear frequently in the family.  I have his marriage date from LDS but nothing further.  My grandfather, Nelson Gilbert King claimed to be descended from Ensign William King, of the Kings of Suffield, CT, but I cannot find the link (and the Kings of Suffield are very well documented).  Nelson lived in Feeding Hills, Ma (part of Agawam, Ma) and most of the family members lived in the general vicinity.   Any help would be greatly appreciated by the large number of current descendents!

Updated:  Sorry, i guess you misunderstood me...I am looking for the ancestors of JAMES King, my third great grandfather.  I have all the descendents down to the present day.  I also have 7,800 entries on Family Tree Maker, including at least five lines of Kings living in this area...but absolutely no clue as to what James' family was.  I have a VERY strong suspicion that his father was born out of wedlock since absolutely no trace of him, or his father James Sr. exists.  AND my grandfather had no contact with the Suffield Kings even though his biography from the American Historical Society - Mas claims he descended from Ensign William King of Suffield.

Although most of my King family are buried at Maple Grove Cemetery in Feeding Hills, and my Grandfather is buried at Springfield Street Cemetery in Agawam, I can find no record of a burial of either James King Jr., Sr., or James' wife Rebeckah.  She outlived him, and was probably quite young so I'd guess that she remarried and is buried with her second husband.  It's darn frustrating!  I know he died around 1810 because my Mom found a record of Justin Leonard being appointed guardian of Gilbert and Nelson (no mention of his daughter Dorothy) in 1810.  Old maps in the right era show several James Kings living on South West Street in Feeding Hills, which is where my Grandfather's farm was.  One of them can be traced back to the Suffield Kings but he married into the Phelon (Phelan) family and is certainly not our James as I have followed that family line down.

But thank you for the effort of my behalf.  I've found those records.

best,

Laurie

Start with the earliest known ancestor, Nelson Gilbert King, and work back to the next generation, and then the one before that, and so on.

There are several men named Nelson Gilbert King who are buried in MA. Which one is your grandfather. Some show parents names:   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVLM-T5V9   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVG2-WVBF   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FCS1-MZW   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N4CJ-RWF   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M2JL-ZYJ    https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XQGQ-26K   https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FC9G-BDS
