Jacques Passard de la Bretonnière married here in 1676.  Tracking all the family, including wife and children, it appears that he left for France between 1703 and 1706, no data if he ever came back.

His wife Marie Louise (Lemaitre) Lemaître (1657-1733) and at least one of their children went to Plaisance (Newfoundland), with the daughter Françoise Élisabeth (Passar) Passard de la Bretonnière (1687-aft.1709) reportedly marrying there in 1709.

Plaisance got ceded to the English in 1713, and most of the French inhabitants left to go elsewhere.  A funeral has been identified as being that of Marie Louise Lemaistre in 1733 in Louisbourg.

Is there any trace of their children Judith (Passard) Labretonnière (abt.1683-1768), Charles (Passar) Passard (1690-aft.1702), Jean Baptiste (de la Bretonnière) Passard de la Bretonnière (1694-) and Louis Passard (1699-) in Acadie, specifically Louisbourg?  Judith very obviously came back here, her funeral has been found.  No trace of the others.

Acadie, any traces from your end?

Hi Danielle,

In the Dictionnaire généalogique des familles acadiennes by Stephen White there are 3 pages on that family with entries for each child. (p. 1270-1272). His sources are mainly from Tanguay. The information given is already in their WikiTree profiles, except for the following censuses mentioned by White, one showing the presence of Judith in Louisbourg:

*Plaisance 1711: Pansar La Bretonière, 3 fishermen (probably widow Marie-Louise Lemaître according to White)

*Louisbourg 1724: Marie Lemaitre, 1 girl (unnamed)

*Louisbourg 1726: Widow Bertonnière, 1 girl (unnamed)

*Louisbourg 1734: Judith La Bretonnière, fille, née Canada, habitante, 2 domestiques

Concerning Judith, there was also on 26 November 1709 a "procès commencé contre le Sr François Picoté de Belestre pour rupture de promesse de mariage."

I can add these censuses to the profiles and send you screenshots of the 3 pages  if you wish.
hi Gisèle, thanks, you can put the data on the profiles, I'm just completing families, Marie Louise Lemaistre is my xxxgreat-aunt,

The interesting thing is the census of Plaisance in 1711, 3 fishermen, could these be her sons?

The girl with widow La Bretonnière on the censuses is most likely Judith, her only sister unaccounted for is Françoise, who reportedly married in Plaisance.  Judith came back to the area her mother came from, she had lots of cousins in the Trois-Rivières / Rivière-du-Loup area.
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Picotte-14 is most likely the man she sued for breach of promise, he marries elsewhere in August 1709.
You're right. Stephen White wrote: "François Picoté de Belestre s'est marié à Montréal le 24 août 1709, à Anne Françoise Bouthier (Tanguay vol VI; Jetté p. 915)." DGFA p. 1272. Source: ANF, Col, G3, 8/176, Basset 1710-29 & 30)

hi Jay, that is definitely not what I am looking for, unfortunately, most of the names I see on there with a quick look-through are for English residents.

Danielle I am traveling so can’t work on it this weekend. If Gisele or someone else doesn’t provide more information, I added the Acadian maintenance category for Needs Research. I will try to check on it after I return.
