How do you insert an attachment in an email to a member?

Question

I can't see a way or figure out how to attach a picture in a message to a member on Wikitree.  

I have to provide my gmail,com  address so they can email me from their address so I can email them back with an attachment.

What am I missing?   If its right in front of me, I still not seeing it!

You are not missing anything, David. It is not possible to send attachments with WikiTree private messages.

Actually, you don't have to provide them with your email address.  They will see your email address as the "from" address on the private message you send them and can just reply to your message.  WikiTree only protects their email address from being shown to anyone who decides to write to them.

The WikiTree private message system is not sufficiently robust to include ability to send file attachments, but you can tell the person that you'd like to send them a file if they reply to your message so that you will have their email address.

Depending on what the document is, he could also upload it to a profile or free space page here at Wikitree and direct the other member to it. Of course, if there is a privacy or copyright issue that is not a good option.
