Trying to find the death of Jacob Meijer

Here is a challenge for someone, I've been looking for the date of death of one of my ancestors for while and just cannot find it. Jacob Meijer, I believe he was still alive 25-09-1912 as his occupation is mentioned at the marriage of his daughter Cornelia Helena Meijer, which is usually not the case for someone who is already dead

Jan Terink also found this advertisement at the bottom right of this page, that shows he was still in business in 1911 https://krantenbankzeeland.nl/issue/tnc/1911-04-20/edition/null/page/2?query=

The only other indicator is his second wife's death in 25-07-1907,  where again his occupation is listed and his wife's marital status is Gehuwd.  Which is why most genealogies that have him have his death of death as AFT 1907

Between 1843-1850, he is registered as living at Verloren Hoek 153 in Axel with his parents and other family members.

Between 1850-1861, he is registered as living at Verlorenhoek 163 in Axel with his parents and other family members.

From 26 December 1861 he is living at Verloren Hoek 163 in Axel.

On 15 May 1865, he is registered as living at Markt 147 in Axel but leaving for Cortgene on 6 April 1870. He is living with Poulus Speelman, kleermaker.

From 21 May 1870 he is living in Tholen coming from Cortgene. Occupation: kleermakersknecht.

From 28 June 1877 he is registered as living in Terneuzen. Occupation: Koetsier.

Terneuzen index for 1880-1900 gives a Jacob Meijer in book 4 page 263 which gives:

From 6 December 1880 he is registered as living in Terneuzen. First as "Koetsier" and later as "Groentehandelaar". His first wife is crossed out and his second wife Maatje Riemens is added on 24 May 1889.

It seems that the death registration of Terneuzen is not fully indexed. I have randomly typed in names in wiewaswie and openarch but it does not turn up anything while the death certificates for Terneuzen 1913-1940 are on familysearch.

Went through all the Terneuzen death certificates for 1912-1921 and no Jacob Meijer (or anything like him) to be found.

Assuming his death was reported and registered, it seems like he died somewhere else.

Maybe he went back to Axel. Deaths for Axel also not in wiewaswie or openarch.

Axel 1883-1912 does not include a certificate for Jacob Meijer

Also Axel 1913-1940 does not include Jacob Meijer.

Still in business on 20 April 1911 according to Ter Neuzensche Courant and 25 April 1911

Have to give up...

Thank you Remko for all your research efforts. Some very nice information you found.

Yes, looks like his death is just not to be found yet.

While doing some more searches myself I did find one more stillborn child with his first wife, whose date of birth/death is the same as his wife's death.
I tried to find the Terneuzen population registration for the period of 1900-1920. This is not available online. Maybe you can contact Zeeuws Archief on 0118-678800. The population registration includes a column with the date of death.

Good Luck !
