Robert Honywood Jr in the Dutch service abt 1665

Sir Robert Honywood-51 had a number of children during the 1630s and 1640s, many born in Holland. The eldest was another Robert, who entered the Dutch service at some point before 1665. In that year, King Charles II, having decided to make war on Holland, recalled a number of his subjects in the Dutch service, among them Robert Honywood, who refused the summons and forfeited his estate in consequence.

Ludlow in his Memoirs has an account of this https://archive.org/details/memoirsofedmundl02ludluoft/page/392/mode/2up in which he calls Honywood "Sir Robert Honywood Jr." but this is probably not correct.

Robert Honywood died by 1673, after which his royalist uncles petitioned to have his estate restored in a trust for the benefit of his widow and 2 sons.

I can find no more details on this Robert Honywood's career, and I'm hoping that some sources from Holland might have more information.

Ah!  That looks promising. I know he had a son born about 1664.

Thanks.
What a great record!  This is most certainly my Robert.

This page:  https://www.openarch.nl/saa:9d6d21e1-eef7-666d-e053-b784100a1840  seems to give his rank and unit  Captain of Company ???

That Cornelis van Vlooswijck apparently became his father-in-law - he doesn't seem to have a military rank.

I'd appreciate a translation.

I also wonder if that was him going back to London in 1670. I also wonder why - but I suppose that wouldn't be in the record.

This deed is about marriage conditions linked to the marriage. Cornelis van Vlooswijck, the bride's father was lord of the areas Papekop and Diemerbroeck, and mayor of the city Amsterdam.

Translation of the text of the deed requires paleographic skills I do not have...

Remark

Notary: Alweijn de Jager
Location description: England
Location description: Papekop
Location description: Diemerbroeck
Subject description: calvary captain of a horse company
marries 15-year-old mayor's daughter

Thanks. That might be his father. He brokered a treaty between Sweden and Denmark.
