I would like to hire a professional Genealogist to help me find information on my Reis / Rice line. Wilhelm Burkhart Reis born ca 1829 in Germany .Possibly from Baden or Bayern GERMANY? He came to the U.S when he was around 13 yrs old, he married Maria Margaretha Mueller in 1849 possibly in New York? She was born in Germany ca 1835 and she died on June 19, 1898. Wilhelm died April 13, 1907, in Bellvue Hosp N.Y.. His address at the time of death was 42 W 117th ST, N.Y.C.They are both buried in Luthern Cemetery in Queens N.Y. I believe That Wilhelm's father was Thomas or John Thomas Reis born ca 1800? in Germany. If you can help me locate someone that can help me please contact me. Thanks.

Could this be your Wilhem? "New York, New York City Municipal Deaths, 1795-1949", database, FamilySearch(https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:2WVM-GL2 : 3 June 2020), William Reis, 1887.

"New York Naturalization Index (Soundex), 1792-1906," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVTW-NSP4 : 19 February 2021), Wilhelm Reis, 1847; citing , New York, New York, United States, Index to Naturalization Petitions filed in Federal, state and local court in New York, 1792-1906, NARA microfilm publication M1674 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 221; FHL microfilm 1,462,586.

Try FamilySearch.org (a free site) use the Search function and enter all the information you have. I found several Wilhem Reis records. The site is free and easy to use.

Thank you very much I will check this one out , but my Wilhelm died 1907.
Do you know for certain that they were born in Germany, ie birth registry's or marriage?  There are a lot of Reis families in Sweden, just wondering.  As many ships came out of Hamburg Germany but the people were not necessarily german.
Yes, I know that his parents were born in Germany.

Here's a findagrave listing for him - http://w.findagrave.com/memorial/40316752/wilhelm-burghardt-reis.

I wish that I had a good recommendation on a genealogist, but my one attempt to use one was a major disappointment.

Thank you so much for your help, but I am trying to locate his place of birth and his parents. I could not open the link you sent.

See if this link takes:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/81773937/william-burkhart-rice

While it may not be reliable, it says that he was born in Frankfurt am Main.

Here's the original link in case I miscopied it before,

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/40316752/wilhelm-burghardt-reis

Thank you so much for your reply, but I am the one who posted that find a grave. I am trying to find his parents in Germany, the places in that statement are not positive places of birth, I am looking for some kind of legal paperwork on him that shows his birthplace in Germany. Then I will be able to search for his parents ,
