Hi Wikitreers,

We have a Miss Sarah Rice who marred a Mr. John Kerry who seems to have Quebec roots!

She has a beautiful obit with photo and I’ve been researching her husbands genealogy to England! He served in the U.S Civil War in the glorious 106th New York Regt in Company I even being a P.O.W. at Libby Prison.

Any collaboration in connecting her is appreciated laugh

Thank you

Note: is it possible the Kerry name in this region is connected to the famous Kerry of United States?

I see on the 1851 census of St. Malachy, Beauharnois, Canada East (now Quebec, Canada) that John Kerry, 22 years old, carriage maker was enumerated adjacent to others of the same surname, apparently a family. John was born in England, and those 14 and under were born in Canada. The apparent father is Robert Kerry, age 46. I can help more if you think this is the same person.

Yes that would be great yes

The couple had at least 12 children as per 1900 census on her profile.

Carriage maker! Interesting! The census starting at 1870 shows farmer

Father is a Robert Kerry dates match laugh

I believe I found them under last name alt spelling Cary in this 1860 United States Census

However occupation listed for John Cary is Machinist

Per John Kerry sketch in 1848 he came to Malone New York to start a 3 year apprentice as a Wheelwright for George Beardsley’s Wheel Wright shop
