What happened to the WikiTreers who I added to the trusted lists of several profiles?

Question

I added two people to the trusted list on several profiles via the email address method. However, their names do not show up on the profiles as managers and in some cases, I did not find them listed in the privacy section, but in other cases, I did. What is going on and why do different profiles react differently to the same thing? Thank you in advance for helping with this.

You need to click on an additional link next to the name under the privacy tab to make someone a manager.  Regarding not showing up at all, I can only suggest double-checking the e-mail addresses you added and make sure there are no typos.

I agree with you about the link. I thought that I clicked on that link - on multiple profiles. Regarding the email addresses, I copied the addresses from email messages and pasted them in to avoid the possibility of typos. I don't want to make extra work for people who don't want to be on the profile manager's lists, but I want to get to the bottom of this so I don't remain confused.

I have added two genealogists to the trusted list. I am not sure I know how to add them as managers. Can they add themselves as managers?

Another problem, I tried to add the same genealogists to other profiles but their names were gone from the trusted list last time I looked. For example

Well, sorry Marion, but I don't see any obvious problem there, so your question might be above my pay grade.  As for adding members to the trusted list, the only other thing I can think of to try is to have those members send you a trusted list request (using either the link in the Collaboration section on the main profile or the link under the Privacy tab).  Then you'll get an e-mail with the request and you should be able to approve by just clicking a link.

On profiles for which I am the manager, and there are other members on the trusted list, I see a link beside each name on the trusted list to allow me to add that person as manager.  I don't see those links on your profiles, but I think that's because I am not a manager of them.  I don't think another trusted list member can add himself as a manager.  If you don't see those links on profiles you manage, I think you'll need to write to info@wikitree.com and ask for some help.  Sorry.

Make sure that the email address you're using is the one associated with their wikitree account.

Thank you for bearing with me while I explore this. As you pointed out, the profile manager can designate others as managers when they are already on the trusted list. Your answer, which was hiding in plain sight, was very helpful

Did you add them recently?  Did they remove themselves from the profiles you added them to?

We discussed adding their names to the profiles. I would not have added them if they said no. If they wanted to be removed, I would have done so immediately. My impression was that they wanted to manage the profiles. I don't add anyone to a profile without discussing it first. I'm still confused but maybe I failed to complete the process with one last step. I don't do this often so maybe I made a mistake.

On Cooksey-538, Mark is on privacy tab, so you can just select the link next to him to make him a manager. As Dennis said, we don't see the link because we are not a manager on the profile.  Only managers on profiles can add others to trusted list or make others a manager of the profile.

On the other profile, I would try to add them again,  one at a time. Enter their email address in the box under Add to trusted list and select Add this person button. Once they are added, they will be shown in the list above that area where your name and picture are. Then the link is next to them to add them as manager.
