Why do i not know anything about my family not even as simple as middle names and great grandparents???

We can help you research best on profiles for those born before 1940  (when the census records are all public).   It's important to know location  (hopefully birth and residence) and approximate dates.   Middle names are a bonus but not essential.   These are skills we can help you learn.  

Are  you currently registered at FamilySearch?   It's FREE and a very valuable tool.

Emilee, welcome to WikiTree and we are really glad you found us. Unlike other genealogy websites, there are so many people here who are willing and eager to help.

First, I want to suggest that you go to either your Profile page or your Navigation page and click on the "Upgrade" link. (It is completely free) You will answer a few questions and then complete the process to become a Family Member. Once you do that you will be able to begin adding what you know about your family. Then, we will be able to see what you have and can better help you.

Emilee, obviously I don't know anything about your personal situation, but I suggest you start by asking your family those questions.  If you are lucky enough to have living grandparents, they will be a great source of information.  Start with your oldest relatives and spend some time with them discussing their memories.  I wish I had done so much more of that, but it is too late for me now.

It is the seventh most common surname in England, and tenth most common in the United States., occurring 783,051 times as of 2000.  Many of my relatives are in a book that I contributed to in the 1960s-

Hello Emilee, Firstly welcome to WIKITREE, and do  not feel alone here, as someone will reply back, by adding what information you already have on hand, going backwards from your Grandparents Birth CERT and Marriage CERTs or even your Parent CERTS.

I had seen and known of my Grandfather and later his Divorce, also found found out he had 2 Older Brothers that went to WW1, 1 was lucky in coming home, also a younger Sister, with 2 of these I have a small TREE of there Families.
