Dates: Most online trees have birth as October 1626 or 1627, but the latest research indicates that he was baptized on June 17, 1622 (see below). Some online trees also have 1693 instead of 1696 as death year. Dates in the CD of Heidgerd's work include died June 23, 1696 and will proved March 26, 1696.[7] The apparent conflict might be explained if you give the March 26 date the old/new style treatment - e.g., 1696/7. The Netherlands had converted to the Gregorian calendar (so records from New Netherland churches used new-style dates), but by the 1690s the British had taken over civil government in New York, so recording of wills was likely to be using old-style dates. This could explain how he died in June 1696 but his will was proved March 1696 - although dates on and after March 25 should have been treated as being in the new year.[14]
