New member introducing myself

I wanted to say hello.  I've been building out my family tree on Ancestry with help from family members who have done research before me.  I've found a couple of brick walls and so have turned down the DNA route: I am a particularly big fan of DNA Painter and have been using matches from 23andme, MyHeritage, FTDNA and GEDmatch to build out my Chromosome map.    I am particularly interested in learning from any DNA sleuths lurking here that I can bounce ideas off with.  Most of my focus currently is in East North Carolina (Kinston, Woodington and Goldsboro) in the mid-19th century.

I tagged your post with DNA and autosomal to bring it to the attention of people that follow those tags.  I wouldn't have seen your post if David hadn't mentioned it to me.  This way anyone that follows the DNA tag will see it.  We have a goodly number of genetic genealogists on here that are more than happy to discuss our shared interests!
Much appreciated Darlene.  The camaraderie here is really refreshing.

Welcome to WikiTree's forum!     While my DNA skills are limited,   I'm certain you'll find great resources here.     You might consider using the G2G  Search Box   (at the top of this page)  to see what  "discussions"  there have been in the past on your DNA topics.

Welcome to the Hunt!

EDIT:

I just searched for  "DNA PAINTER"  and found this discussion that you might enjoy.   https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/869339/dna-painter-project-take-wikitree-collaboration-new-level?show=869339#q869339

Many thanks Peggy!  It is great to see what strategies others have used with DNA Painter.
I just happen to know of a Stroud (Virginia and NC) descendant that is also digging into her Dna connections.  She is here on WikiTree so I will refer your post to her.
That is very kind of you David.  Thanks and wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi, G!  I'm the person that David Douglass mentioned earlier.  He noticed that you used the Stroud tag, and he knows I'm into DNA and also use DNAPainter.  I've broken down several brick walls (for myself and distant cousins) via autosomal DNA analysis.  I work off of my parents' tests and have their chromosomes over 60% mapped.

My 5th great-grandfather was William Stroud Jr.  Feel free to drop me a PM.

Hi G, and welcome to WikiTree. Thank you for introducing yourself to us in our g2g forum.  I would like to recommend that you upgrade to a family membership.  It is 100% free and you would be able to add tags. Tags can be names and locations of your ancestors. By adding these tags you would be connected to other members of WikiTree that are researching the same names and locations that you are. You may even find you have relatives already on WikiTree.

Once again, welcome to WikiTree and I hope you love it as much as I do.
