multiple duplicates of the Rev. Robert Batte need to be merged - as son of one set (which?) or an orphan?

Hi!  I've just discovered that I apparently have Batte ancestors (I love how WikiTree adds branches to my family when I'm not looking :D).

The problem - SO many duplicates with so many choices for his parents, it makes my head spin to try to research any of them. I'm working with a cousin to come up with a way to sort them all out, but while we're working on that, I wanted to get the ball rolling on merges for the Rev. Robert Batte.

There seems to be no controversy about one of his wives being a Parry (and we've gone with Parry instead of Perry), although the given name goes between Mary and Elizabeth, or that he and his wife nee Parry are the parents of Captain John Batte.

In order to merge all of his duplicate profiles, we need to either pick one set of parents or disconnect him from all of them.  I've added a "Parents" section on this duplicate profile (Batte-76) to keep track of the options. My preference would be to have his parents as John and Margaret Wood.  If that's ok with everyone, we can get started. If not, please discuss which set you favor, or if you think "none" is the better answer for now.

Thanks!

This family profile on ancestry.co.uk rmay be interest:

Rev. Robert Batte, Fellow and master of Oxford University, born 6 July 1560 , died 16 January 1617, both events at Oakworth Hall, Birstall, the son of Henry Batte (1524 -1555). I know 1555!!!.

Robert married 1581, Mary Elizabeth Parry, "Lady of Golden Valley". Her vitals are recited as born 1568 , Golden Valley, Hertfordshire, who died 1 August 1633, Oakworth Hall. Mary, is allegedly the daughter of john Parry,1548 and Mary Sophia Puleston, 1549, Hinton Ampner, Hampshire

Rev. Robert's son is noted as John Batte (Ship captain failed venture transporting settlers to America)  b 24 June 1606, Oakworth Hall, christened 16 July 1606 kirkburton, All Hallows. Married Martha Katherine Mallory 1625, Birstall. Property listed in1643, Charles City County, Virginia., although he died in 1652. One or two alleged sources to the captain!

Come back to me if you would like these sources

yup.. "father" Henry d 1555 is part of the problems we're facing. This is definitely the Reverand Robert I'm talking about. RJ has done a great job of compiling what we know about this family (we've been working on it today, which is why I didn't mention it earlier: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Batte_of_Oakwell_resources). If you take a look at the "Parents" section of Batte-76, you'll see the option are mostly John. Cheers, Liz

I haven't heard from any of the other profile managers about their choices for his parents, so I've posted a notice on many of the profiles involved that I'll be setting Robert Batte as son of John and Margaret Wood and start working on merges. Cheers, Liz

PS - see http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Batte_of_Oakwell_resources for a working outline of the family

Thanks Ron! I'd seen the baptism date, but not with the father's name included! As an aside, the family arms includes bats (see https://archive.org/stream/dugdalesvisitati01dugd#page/352/mode/2up ).
