removing info at the request of someone

I have been working on orphan profiles with "anonymous" names (Data Error challenge).  I came across several which I changed to Unknown, however, the real name can be found in the changes tab.  These particular profiles state in the bio that the information has been removed at the request of someone.  That particular someone is no longer on Wikitree as their profile ID is in red, and the request took place in 2012.  How long do we honor that request and for what reasons would such a request be granted?

In researching further, it appears that these particular profiles may be of living people, but have been orphaned. There are no dates on the profiles, but the parents are possibly still alive as some are private and born in the 1940's.

Hi Carolyn. The process for those types of profiles is as follows:

  • Adopt the profile
  • Add info@wikitree.com as a manager
  • Edit the profile to add a research note which explains why you think they are still alive, including sources
  • Set the Death certainty flag to Still Living
  • Use something like "privacy update with research note" for the change comment
  • That will automatically set the profile privacy to Unlisted
  • Go to Privacy and remove yourself as manager
Having added the Team as a profile manager flags the profile for them.

Thanks for the info, Debi.  Should I also add the name and other info when it can be found under the changes tab?  Or do I just add info@wikitree.com as manager and leave it at that?
I would add a link to that change log entry in the research note to make it faster for the Team to pinpoint, depending on what they decide to do with the profile.
I have just come across several other profiles named Anonymous Person and orphaned, with absolutely no info, not even gender.  Do I send them to info@wikitree.com also?
Another question  -

Should I put back info on an Anonymous Anonymous profile that was later deleted by the person who created the profile?  The profile is orphaned with no one on the Trusted List.  The last deletion contained a great deal of information including sources, but the person died in 2012.  The information was deleted on Jan 2015.

Should I restore all the info or not?
For the Anonymous Person with open privacy, I would say do treat it like a living person. From the ones I looked at, they resulted from invitations being sent to others who never responded.

Regarding the one that is deceased, I would restore it.
