Daughters of American Revolution DAR "papers" question [closed]

Hello all. I am new to using the DAR website and am currently attempting to use their information to prove a lineage for SAR. A DAR staff member gave me the number of a paper that proves the only remaining relationship I need to prove, but she didn't tell me how I could get a hold of this paper. I didn't even know there was a such thing as DAR papers.

Does anyone know how these can be accessed? Thanks!

From this link https://services.dar.org/Public/DAR_Research/search_descendants/?action=list&MyPrimary_Seqn=1169809&MyLineageCount=1

which I got from doing a Descendant Search for Lucinda Gentry, you can order a “record copy”. The basic application is $10, but there are options for ordering documentation as well.

This is the link for doing a descendant search https://services.dar.org/Public/DAR_Research/search/?Tab_ID=5

Thank you, George. I was able to find where to order documents, I was just confused at what types of documents were available. It turns out it was just a matter of semantics. Paper=application documents. laugh

You are welcome. I find their website confusing. I actually kept getting “accessed denied” before I stumbled on the right link for the search.
I was able to order my gramma's paper online and download it.  Her application, done in 1947, had some blanks.  I was able to fill in the blanks and by tagging onto her app am going to apply.  My patriot is Richard Shaw, b.1751.  It is through his son, Robert.
Awesome, Debora! We will be delighted to have you join the DAR! I believe with a grandma in the DAR you will be eligible for the new legacy pin!

If you are referring to documents from someone’s application file  (do you have a member number or patriot number?) you can order and recieve those digitally from the GRS portion of their web site.  If it’s a document from other files, microfilm, or a page from a book they will make copies and send them to you for a fee (look for ‘Search services’ on their web site).  Pretty sure they are still closed at the moment, however, so if you need anything other than an application or supporting documents you will probably have to wait.

Hi Kathie, no these are not the documents from the application because I know how to access those.

What I was told was

"The most recent paper is DAR #921678. DAR uses the most recent paper for the patriot’s generation and the most recent paper for each generation through the lineage."

There must be some sort of depository for the papers if they are used regularly. Thanks

If you enter that number on the “Member” screen, David Gentry comes up as the patriot, so that must be part of his file associated with that member.
Okay, I see now. This is the number of one of the applications. So I think they are using the term paper to mean paper trail. Thanks, Kathie. I believe she meant I should order the supporting docs for that particular application because it is the most recent and has been validated. Phew! I gotta learn the lingo :-)
