Bessie, daughter of Lizzie (Hackett) Jones (1856–1934), Australia - what else can I learn about her? [closed]

Bessie is named in her [step] mother Lizzie Jane Jones's death notice (pasted below).

Can anyone help me to learn more about Bessie? Was she also the daughter of Charles Jones? Where and when was she born? I couldn't find a "Bessie Jones" born in the 1890s in the NSW BDM register.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Death notice of Lizzie Jane Jones "JONES-June 10th, 1934, at her residence, "Seymour," 6 Valley Road, Lindfield, Lizzie Jane, widow of the late Rev. Charles Jones, and beloved mother of Bessie, Frank, and Allan. Aged 77 years.

Edited first paragraph: to add that Lizzie was Bessie's step mother.

Did you also try looking for an Elizabeth?  Eliza?  Elisabeth?  Lisbet? Beatrice?  Elsabeth? Isabel? Isabelle? Isabell? Isabella? Betty?  Bet?  Bess?
Yes, I tried the Elizabeth variations, but had not tried the Isabel variations, so will try those now (cross fingers!)
I can't think of any other variations that might end up as "Bessie".  Did you try any other states?
Hmmm... so Jones is a common name (and I suppose it's just an assumption that it's Bessie's name?), but I couldn't see any of those variations you suggested listed with a mother Eliza, Elizabeth or Lizzie.
I tried Victoria, but not any others.
Ok .. is it possible that this could be her - 40955/1912 - presuming that her father's middle initial "F" could be misread as "J" (or the transcriber messed up as I recently had to notify NSW BDM about someone)?
Thanks Melanie for all your help! - I will perhaps add the 1912 record to Wikitree too, and see if I can connect to the main tree

Well, we now know that it isn't "your" Bessie, so I don't think there's a need to add the info.  smiley

So she may not be the daughter of Lizzie Hackett, but the daughter of Charles Firman and his first wife.

Not sure of the birth record, but there is a death record in NSW BDM of Elizabeth Emily L Jones, dau of Charles Firman and Elizabeth Emily L Registration no. 9106/1960, Sydney District.

An Elizabeth Emily Louise Jones, is residing at 2 Kelburn Rd, Roseville in the 1954 Electoral Roll, which is the same address as Allan Hackett Jones, medical practitioner, and I can't see any record to say that he married, so this could be his sister (half-sister)?

Maybe she is mentioned as a daughter of Lizzie Hackett Jones, because she was still living with her step-mother, whereas her two full brothers were not at this stage?

Found her!

Here's the link to the record

NSW is one where you cannot link to the search result.  It only takes you to the index.  (Session expires immediately.)

The best link is the Reg#, which I have in my post.
Thanks Melanie and John!! You are wonderful

While I have you here, can you check that this link works? I just want to make sure it works for everyone (not just people who are logged into the NLA):

http://smharchives.smedia.com.au/Olive/APA/smharchive/SharedView.Article.aspx?href=SMH%2F1960%2F05%2F09&id=Ar02606&sk=2D809D3D

Link works on Edge (where I am not logged in).
It does, but if you were planning on posting it to a profile on WikiTree, then that would be a breach of copyright.

The NLA would pay to host the Sydney Morning Herald archives database but it would only be accessible to patrons of the Library, and copyright still belongs to Fairfax Media.
Just the link, thanks John. I only post pics of pre-1955 newspaper articles. I do feel that perhaps copyright is a little tight but I am mindful to stay in the law anyway.
Maybe this reply belongs further up. I found the above death notice in the Ryerson Index (https://www.ryersonindex.org/)  "The Ryerson" is an indexing by volunteers of many death notices in Australian Newspapers.  The title honours Joyce Ryerson, whose collection was its foundation  (See the Start Page.)  Michelle Stephens of AFTC Magazine knew her.  I used to index the Bendigo Advertiser, but retired a few years ago.  It is now used by all kinds of people, pharmacists and solicitors are just examples.  Statistical data extracted from it is made available for research.

In this case the listing just points to the ad in the Daily Telegraph.  Ways of finding the original are listed on another page.

Ross, that's pretty cool that this is already mapped on Geni! Would be thrilled if you can find anything about Bessie (I see Frank and Allan are on Geni already).
