Hi David.  I agree with Ros' answer, but I think you should probably review the explanation of trusted lists and the honor code as well.  Open profiles also have trusted lists, but other members can still see and edit most of the content without being on the list.  The phrasing of your question suggests to me that you might be viewing the trusted list as a mechanism to retain control of the profile and prevent others from seeing or editing the data.  And that would be counter to the basic concept here of one tree with one profile per person, where you collaborate with other descendants of a person to get the profile right.  My apology if I'm misreading this, I just thought it should be mentioned since you appear to be a new member.

As long as the profile wasn't born over 150 years ago/died over 100 years ago, when it has to be Open.  Take a look at this page to see the different privacy levels:

And yet I have run into one today that is marked as "public" and the person was born in 1890 and died in 1953. It seems that it should be "open".

The Help page says:

Profiles of people born over 150 years ago or who died over 100 years ago must be Open.

The profile you mention is of a person who was born 133 years ago and died 70 years ago. So it does not have to be Open by either criterion.

You are correct. I had read the page and the comment and still came away with the wrong set of rules. My apologies.

I'm still not sure why the profile in question is marked as public -- there seems to be no reason for it (but as the rules state, it can be something other than open). I have sent the profile manager a request to be added to the trusted list or offered to send them the information about a marriage which needs to be added.
