For those interested in land documents for Ontario, visit the Ontario Land Registry Website for Land Registry books available online!  I'm not sure how long this has been available, but I'm super excited!

Amy!! Stop giving me new rabbit holes LOL!!

Can't wait to dive in :)
I'm already lost in the backwoods of Lanark County trying to find sources for my husband's family!  Not to mention, my place study!!  I'm in heaven lol.

Thank you for letting us know! Sometime when I have time, I must see if I can find the actual places that my ancestors owned.

ONLand has been online since December 2018. It's important to read the "opening hours" of the website as it is not available 24 hours/day. This is a good resource to use in conjunction with the Ontario land records that have been digitized and are available by county by doing a Catalog search on FamilySearch.

I'm late to this conversation, this is a fabulous resource. I use it often to find information about exactly when property was bought and sold particularly in areas that were settled early.

Each transaction is recorded from the first owner, who often received a land grant to the current day.

The information is recorded by the physical location, Lot #, Concession # etc.

It can be very interesting as you can also see what happened on the lot next door or across the road. When it was settled and who lived there first.

Have you found multiple marriages between families with the same few last names, chances are they lived in close proximity to each other, they were the people who lived next door or across the road from each other.

Agreed, an awesome resource.  In particular, pre-1900 wills are also recorded in the land records when, you know, a parcel of land was conveyed.
