In 1841 George, age 14 is living at home at Woodside, Moray with his parents and his younger sister Isabella.

In 1851 he is living at home at Woodside, Moray with his parents and a cousin John Grant age 2, born at Addcarn, Nairn which is just east of Inverness. George is listed as being born in Kinloss, Moray. There is no mention of his sister Isabella who would only have been 11.

On ancestry.ca there is a record of George Grant marrying Isabella Munro on June 10, 1858 in Drainie,Moray,Scotland. Drainie is just north of Elgin. One of their children's birth records gives his mother as Isabella Munro.

In 1861 he is living in Spynie at Morriston Square and is a ploughman. His wife is Isabella born 1835 Inverness. They have children: John born 1857 Spynie, Ann born 1859 Spynie and William who is just 4 months old. There are visitors: his sister Isabella age 21 born 1840 and Mary Dick age 2, born 1859 in Rhynie, Morayshire.

In 1871 George and Isabella are living at Wallacebrae, Duffus and he is still an agricultural laborer. They have children: John 1857 New Spynie, Ann 1859 Spynie, William 1861 New Spynie, Francis 1864 Duffus, George 1866 Duffus, Findlay 1868 Duffus, and James 1870 Duffus.

Finlay's birth record list his mother as Isabella Munro.

In 1881 they are living at Paddockdale, Drainie, Moray and George is still a farmer. They are now mid 40s. Their children Findlay, James, Robert born 1873 Drainie , Catherine born 1876 Drainie and Alexander born 1878 Drainie.

In 1891 Isabella is living with her son Frank age 27 in Elgin at 3 Main Street. She is a housekeeper and he is an unemployed farm hand.
