Andrew Grant married Mary Grant ( born in 1832 in Inverness) in June 11,1851 in New Spynie, Moray.

The 1851 census lists him as a farm servant at Oldmills House, Elgin, Moray.

The 1861 census has him listed as a plough man with his wife Mary at Estate C Manse, Sutherland, Dornoch with children Catherine Grant age 8, Margaret Grant age 7, Mary Grant age 5, Elspet Grant age 3, James Grant age11 Mo.

In 1871 he is a farm manager living with his wife in Waterford, Forres Landward, Forres, Moray with children Elspet Grant age 13, James Grant age 11, Jane Grant age 9, John Grant age 6, Isabella Grant age 3, Andrew Grantage age 10 Mo.

In 1881 he is a general labourer living at 34 High Street, Forres, Moray with his wife and children John age 15, Isabella age 13, Andrew age 10 and his grandchildren John Barbour age 6, Jane Coutts age 6 and William Fox age 2. The grandchildren were all born in Forres, Moray.

In 1891 he is still living at 34 High Street in Forres and is now a thatcher. Their son Andrew is now 20 and is a bobbin blocker. Their grandson John Grant, 16, is a baker. Grandson James Grant age 13 is a scholar. And grandson William Fox age 12 is also a scholar.

Their last child Andrew, born in 1870, goes to British Columbia, Canada in 1897 and is headed to Tappin Siding B.C. He married May Elizabeth McDonald from Quebec on July 2, 1898.
