Biography

Alexander Whitecross was born October 2, 1762, and baptised October 4, 1762, at North Berwick, Scotland. The baptismal record is indexed under "Corse", but a note was later inserted stating his surname is "Whitecross".[1]

Alexander Whitecross and Barbara Brock were irregularly married at Edinburgh, with the marriage recorded at North Berwick on March 17, 1789.[2]

Alexander and Barbara had several children:

  • Robert Whitecross, born February 12, 1791, baptised February 20, 1791, at North Berwick, Scotland. Alexander was a laborer. The witnesses were the Congregation.[3]
  • Mary Whitecross, born December 6, 1792, at Dirleton, Scotland. Alexander was a laborer in Williamston. The witnesses to the baptism were John Sives and Jas. Lindsay.[4]
  • Peter Whitecross, born April 14, 1795, at Dirleton, Scotland. Alexander was a hind in Williamston. The witnesses to the baptism were Francis Buchan and Jn. Sives.[5]
  • Alison Whitecross, born January 10, 1798, baptised January 14, 1798, at Dirleton, Scotland. The witnesses to the baptism were Alexr. Smith and Jn. Whitecross.[6]
  • John Whitecross, born January 21, 1800, baptised January 27, 1800, at Dirleton, Scotland. The witnesses to the baptism were Alexr. Smith and John Sives.[7]
  • George Whitecross, born April 12, 1803, baptised April 17, 1803, at Whitekirk and Tynninghame, Scotland. The witnesses were Richd. Richardson and James Ingles.[8]

Alexander Whitecross passed away June 9, 1805, at North Berwick, Scotland.[9]
