Jane was born to farmer David Swanson and his wife Margaret Fife[1] in Olrig, Caithness.[2]
Jane Swanson married mason John McAdie[3] and they proceeded to have son's Donald (1848) and John (1850) in Thurso before moving to Halkirk and continuing to grow the family with:
Jamesina (1858)
William (1859)
Alexander (1862)
George (1862)
Heston Fraser (1865).[4]
Jane died of acute tuberculosis on Store Street in Thurso as witnessed by her husband John.[5]
