George and his twin brother Alexander McAdie [1]were born in Calder to mason John McAdie and his wife Jane Swanson. His father was present at the birth.[2]
In 1891, George was an unmarried 28 year old labourer living with his brother Alexander and his widowed father John at 30 Riverside, Thurso.[3]
George McAdie and Johan Sutherland were official witnesses to the marriage of George's sister Jamesina McAdie to John Murray Swanson on April 23, 1890[4] just four months after the birth of Johan's son John George.

In 1921, George, age 59 was a mason working for Donald Munro of Thurso. He was living at 9 Miller's Lane, Thurso as a single occupant of a single room abode.[8]
George McAdie never married and died in 1940 of chronic myocardial degeneration at the age of 76 at his abode at 19 Millers Lane, Thurso.[9]
