Biography
In 1851, John McKay of Wattens, Caithness is a 31 year old mason living with his 27 year old wife Jane from Olrig, Caithness. They have a son Donald, age 3 and a son John age 1, both born in Olrig, Caithness.[1]
Based on the 1871 census, 22 year old Donald McAdie is a stonecutter still living with his parents but the family has moved to Thurso, Caithness.[2]
However when he marries Jane Dunnet in Dunnet, Caithness he is listed as a labourer.[3]
Donald and Jane go on to have the following children: Margaret; Jessie; Johan; Barbara; Bella and William.
Donald died at 8 Gerry Square from cardiac failure brought on by hipostatic pulmonary congestion and arteriosclorosis with his son William present at his death.[4]
