Biography
William was born in Feb 1808. He was baptised in March 1808 at Jedburgh Associate Congregational Church. He is the son of William Sinton (1778-1841) and Isabella (Scott) Sinton (1778-1849). [1]
He married Jessie Lamb in Dec 1833 at Jedburgh. [2]
He was a roading contractor then a farmer.
1841 - road contractor at Cavers, Roxburghshire, with wife Jessy Sinton (25yrs)
1851 - Farmer of 50 acres employing 2 men at Cavers with wife & children Betsy & William
1861 - Farmer of 37 acres employing 1 Lab, Road Contractor employing 11 Lab & 30 Agr. Lab. at Cavers with wife & Children: William Sinton, Betsy Sinton, Isabella Sinton
In 1865 he had land in Monklaw (land records)
1871 - Farmer Of Monklaw, Jedburgh, farm 215 Acres of which 190 are arable, Employing 3 Mail, widower with Children: Betsy Sinton, Isabella Sinton, William Sinton.
