Archibald was born in 1896 in Banton, Stirlingshire, Scotland.[1] He was the son of Thomas Miller and Margaret Sneddon.
At the time of the 1901 Census Archie is living in Banton with his parents and several siblings.[2]

Archie's father died in 1901 and his mother in 1905. His sister Agnes brought up the younger children.

Archie served in the 7th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders during WWI. He emigrated to New Zealand after the war, settling in Hokitika.
He married (1st) Hada Bergstrom in 1927. [4][5] They had no children together. Hada passed away in 1942.
He married (2nd) Mary Sommerville in Christchurch on 18 June 1948.[6]
He passed away in July 1972 in Greymouth[7][8] and is buried in the Hokitika Municipal Cemetery.[9]
