Isobel McAdie was named as the mother of Donald McAdie who was baptised in Watten, Caithness, on 25 July 1824.^[1] Scottish baptism records show the maiden name of the mother - the fact that Isobel is recorded as "Isobel McAdie" indicates that this was her surname at birth.

She was born in 1788 to Donald McAddie and Janet McBeith^[2]

In 1841 Isobel was living with her husband Robert McAdie and children William, Janet, Elizabeth and Donald in Dunn in the parish of Watten, Caithness^[3]. Robert's trade was "farmer". Also living with the family was ten-year-old Elizabeth Munro whose parents lived nearby in South Dunn^[4].

In 1851 the family was at Paddockfield, Watten, Caithness, Scotland^[5].
