Biography

Martha was born in 1890. She was the daughter of Michael Manson and Jenny Renwick^[1].

Martha Grace Manson was the sixth child and fifth daughter born to Michael & Jane Renwick Manson. At the time of her birth, her father was a merchant and store owner in Nanaimo. He would later become a justice of the peace and a Conservative MLA in the BC Legislature, representing Comox from 1909 to 1916 and Mackenzie from 1924 until his death in 1932. The community of Mansons Landing on Cortes Island was named after him and several of the family's descendants still live on the island. She was eight months and eight days old at the time of her death from Diphtheria^[2]British Columbia Death Registration Number 1890-09-044405. Britis Columbia Archives Mfilm Number B13084. Unfortunately she died before her first birthday, on 25 Oct 1890 in Nanaimo 1890^[4]. She was buried in Nanaimo Municipal Cemetery.
