Herman Cornelius Kay was born on October 6, 1914, in Liberty, Pickens, South Carolina, United States, son of John Samuel Kay (1877–1925) and Annie Estelle McCall (1882–1966). [1] [2] [3]

He married Arrie Edith Hendrix (1924–2010). [4]

Herman died in May 1973 in Pendleton, Anderson, South Carolina, aged 58. [5] He is buried in Memory Gardens, Clemson, South Carolina. [6]
